Brenda’s passion to heal individuals and communities was developed during her extensive 15+ year career spanning both emergency management and disaster recovery. Her master’s degree in Counseling and Community Psychology (earned from the Sage College in Albany, in 2018) and her Trauma and Disaster Mental Health certification (SUNY New Paltz, in 2020) informed a rewarding career of care with the most recent updates to the field. Her commitment to supporting mental health within the community has a firm knowledge base, and Cottage Counseling came about during her time spent working within a larger outpatient mental health clinic.

Striving for harmony in a public sector career led naturally to the concept of her practice, where experience, education, and a relaxed atmosphere create a space for wellness to flourish. Her goal is for mental health to be an integral and acknowledged part of day-to-day life, and not a stressful experience of complex intake forms and unwelcoming waiting rooms.

Brenda continues to work a limited number of hours for the outpatient clinic, but is committed to devoting the majority of her time providing in-person and video-based services for those who seek out Cottage Counseling, where she is equipped to help with a variety of concerns, for all ages.
